People for a Better Jonathan is a grassroots organization formed in 2002. At that time, many residents were concerned the Jonathan Association was "non-compliantly" placing Association property up as loan collateral without the required assent of the property owners. The residents were concerned that the Board of Directors was putting the Jonathan Association at risk by failing to fulfill their fiduciary duty by not adhering to the Governing Documents and managing the Association finances in a responsible manner. They banded together as People for a Better Jonathan, and began a campaign to protect and enhance the opportunities which exist in our community
Since then, the PBJ has been vocal in its support of Jonathan. PBJ members attend all Board Meetings of the Jonathan Association, and provide a voice for the homeowners who feel Jonathan should be protected. PBJ members dedicate themselves to encouraging the Board of Directors to act in a manner that is financially responsible, ethical, and respectful. PBJ has an extensive emailing list of Jonathan homeowners, all of whom are concerned about how the dues they pay to the Jonathan Association are being spent.
In 2007, PBJ supported three candidates for the Board of Directors of the Jonathan Association: Maria Awes, Jackie Bensman, and Mike Liebe. All three candidates received an overwhelming majority of the homeowner votes, but due to the manner in which apartment owners cast their ballots, only two PBJ-supported candidates, Awes and Liebe, were elected.
In 2008, PBJ again supports a group of candidates who are committed to protecting Jonathan. The 2008 candidates are Jackie Bensman, Sandi Rossol, and Katie Tierney. All three of which support the 2008 PBJ Platform. |
