2008 Platform – Jonathan Association Board of Directors Election
Supported by candidates Katie Tierney, Jackie Bensman, & Sandy Rossol
Preserving Jonathan - One Community. One Future. One Jonathan.
One Jonathan
The PBJ candidates support the concept of “One Jonathan.” Henry McKnight built Jonathan with the vision that it would be a vibrant community, made up of people from diverse social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. The PBJ candidates hope to continue to build on McKnight’s vision by uniting all parts of Jonathan through community activities including family activities at Lake Grace, the Annual 4th of July Bike Parade, the Annual Jonathan Festival of Garage Sales, and more.
Financial Responsibility
The PBJ candidates are greatly concerned by the current majority of the Board of Directors’ inability to recognize their fiduciary duties to all residents of Jonathan. When elected to the Jonathan Association Board of Directors, the PBJ candidates will fairly represent ALL property owners in Jonathan, and will exercise restraint and common sense in their financial decisions, thereby fulfilling their fiduciary responsibility to the members of the Jonathan Association.
Cease Litigation
The PBJ candidates support a complete cessation of all legal actions related to Post-1980 annexations into the Jonathan Association. Over $100,000 in legal fees has already been incurred, and it is the position of the PBJ candidates that no further Jonathan Association funds be spent on these items.
Equitable Distribution of Resources
The PBJ candidates believe that money paid into the Jonathan Association should be spent across all of Jonathan in a fair manner. The PBJ candidates will support a financially equitable distribution of Jonathan Association resources, where a certain percentage of property owner dues will be used to directly benefit their area of Jonathan.
Increasing Property Values
Over the past year, property values in Chaska, and Jonathan in particular, have decreased. Many homes in Jonathan have been on the market for over 6 months with no buyer activity. Part of this is directly related to the anticipated litigation, which property owners are bound, by law, to disclose to potential buyers. The PBJ is interested in protecting and increasing property values, and will do so by ceasing litigation, and by enforcing reasonable architectural guidelines throughout the community. By maintaining a level of architectural control, the Jonathan Association will be protecting the property values of the homeowners in Jonathan.
Common Area Maintenance
The PBJ candidates will work to ensure that all trails, sidewalks, tot lots, playgrounds, Lake Grace, and other common properties are maintained in excellent condition. The PBJ candidates will redirect funds that are currently being misused for litigation back to the maintenance and beautification of our community.
Professional Conduct
The PBJ candidates pledge to act with the utmost professional conduct in all dealings as members of the Jonathan Association Board of Directors. It is the goal of the PBJ candidates to bring civility back to the Jonathan Association Board of Directors meetings and communications with property owners. No one who comes before the Board of Directors should be intimidated or discriminated against, and the PBJ candidates will uphold a level of professionalism in their dealings with other Board members, the residents, and the Jonathan Association staff.
